Sports presenter Ray Stubbs was taken ill during ESPN’s coverage of the live Premier League match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Stubbs, who joined the satellite channel earlier this year after more than two decades with the BBC, was not in his chair for the usual half-time analysis, with ESPN explaining he had been taken to hospital.

ESPN spokesman Paul Melvin said: “The health and safety of our employees is our top priority. Ray was not feeling well and was taken to the hospital as a medical precaution.”
